Yellville is located in Marion County (of which it is the county seat), southwest of Mountain Home, between Flippin and Harmon along US Hwy 62. This community is also situated along the banks of Crooked Creek (great bass fishing) and south of Bull Shoals Lake in theOzark Mountains.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,289, an increase of 108 since 1990.
In 1836 Marion County was formed and Yellville was chosen as a name for the town, in honor of Arkansas' second governor, Archibald Yell (a prominent military and governmental leader of the early 1800s).
Every October, Yellville makes itself known to the world when it holds it's famous festival, The Turkey Trot Festival. Yellville is also the gateway to the beautiful Buffalo National River, which is positioned to the south of town. Residents throughout the area work in small industries, in lumber, agricultural and tourist trades.
