Blairsville is located in Union County, of which it is the county seat, just south of the North Carolina state line along Highway 19 near Nortley Lake in the zountai of the state. Blairsville is situated within the Chattahoochee National Forest.
It was named after Francis Preston Blair, editor of the Washington Globe.
