Elko

Elko is located west of the Utah state line between Battle Mountain and Wells along Interstate 80 on the banks of the Humboldt River in the Northern Region of the state.

It was named for the herds of elk once inhabiting the area. Elko was once a campsite for travelers and served as a freight terminus for the region's mines.
