Cornish

Established in 1763, Cornish was once called Mast Camp because it was the shipping point for all the tall ship masts floated down the Conner River by the English. Cornish, located in Sullivan County east of Windsor, was incorporated in 1765 and named after Sir Samuel Cornish, a distinguished English admiral of the Royal Navy. A century ago the town was a famous art colony.

Places to visit include The Cornish Art Colony Museum, Mount Sunapee State Park, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site and four covered bridges -- Blacksmith Shop Bridge, Cornish-Windsor Bridge, Dingleton Hill Bridge and Blow-Me-Down Bridge.
