Dakota Heritage & Lakes Region
The Southeast Region of South Dakota showcases the city of Sioux Falls, a gateway to many recreation areas and cultural activities. Early in the history of the community, residents accepted the challenge of providing cultural events for the entire tri-state region. As a result, Sioux Falls has evolved into a showcase of the arts in the upper Midwest.
Attractions of the area include camping and hiking, waterfowl hunting, the Sioux Falls Community Playhouse, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Northern Plains Tribal Arts Festival, the world's only Corn Palace and a prehistoric Indian village in Mitchell, and the Great Plains Zoo.
