Charles City
Charles City is located in Charles City County, of which it is the county seat, just east of Hopewell along Highway 5 near Chippokes Plantation State Park in the Eastern Region of the state. The town is situated between the James and Chickahominy rivers.
Charles City is part of the Richmond-Petersburg, Virginia metro area.
It was named after King Charles I of England. Charles City was established in 1884 when the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad extended its line.
